Client Feedback

We check up on our pups from time to time to keep up to date with how all is going in regards to training, hunting, or just family life in general.  From what we can tell, all the pups are doing what they were intended to do...  become a first class hunting companion and or an integral member of the family.  We would like to thank our clients for keeping us "in the loop" so that we know exactly what kind of pups we have produced.  Please feel free to email any of ourt clients that are listed below.  Add Working Spaniel to the subject line so they know what the email is in regards to.  For a complete list of references please email us and we will send you contact information for everyone that has a pup from our program.  Some feedback about our pups:

"Stephen,

We’ve been keeping up through the Brownings on the happenings and heard that Breeze had the litter last night, I’m sure another great batch of pups. I wanted to let you know that my son Jakob and I have had the opportunity to work Piper quite a bit this past season, probably 6 trips or so in the field, after another half dozen refresher trips to friend’s place to work with pigeons.  My friend has an ESS as well, 2 years younger than Piper, and while his is a great dog also, I am more tickled with Piper all the time.   In all the working with the pigeons and then in the field with pheasant she really has shown a drive and a great nose, man what a nose! Just this weekend in a very high wind and difficult scenting conditions we were at a preserve and cut through a corner piece that one of the other dogs had worked twice just a few minutes before, and when the two hunters cleared the grass we noticed Piper ducked back in on the corner.  A little rustling later out popped the rooster!   Then again there was a lot of very short grass and high wind that the dogs had run over a couple of times with no interest.  She was hustling across when she stopped, she caught the scent of something and ran 20 yards to poke her nose in small tuft and out came a hen.  She also is aggressive at running down the cripples, we haven’t lost a bird in quite a while. She’s really been a lot of fun.

The other story I like to share is back in November when we had walked a long stretch of grass up to a fence line and while we hunters were standing there talking she started poking in to the fence and trying to find a way through.  She finally backed up, looked down the fence and ran about 50 yards to gap in the fence and ran back up to the spot exactly opposite us on the other side of the fence.  She busted a rooster that was hiding in a brush pile about 15 feet from where our little bull session was going on.

Just wanted to let you know that Sam’s blood line, and Dixie, sure put out a good pup with Piper, I’m sure the new owners will be happy as well with their’s. My wife is really growing an interest in a 2nd dog, we may have to talk at some point.  Not sure if we will go the pup route again or perhaps an adult dog. Of course I’d like to do the training again if I can find the time.  We have my father-in-law’s ESS male with us for a few months now, he’s a great dog also, and it sure has Karen thinking.  Take care now."

"Good evening Stephen, I send you a Nitro picture with my feelings about

 this super pup."

"Since 25 years I hunt ducks, geese, ruffed grouses, woodcock and
rabbits always with Springers Spaniel. Nitro is very special dog, she is hunting machine in the field and has very good temperament in the house, she is a very good marker and retriever in the field and in the water. At 26 weeks Nitro swim like an otter, is quartering to the whistle in the field and in the woods, always the nose at the ground. Nitro will be my best working springer in 25 years. Thank you Stephen for your very good breeding."

"The dogs are doing great and are healthy.  My vet says that he can tell they are the result of extremely good breeding.  His assistant evencommented that they seemed so calm for Springer Spaniels.  Many folks aren't sure what type of dogs they are, especially Bella because her look is so unique and different from the US E.S.S.  I am so impressed with the temperament and disposition of these two and I love educating everyone as to their pedigrees, etc."

"We just came in from a day in the woods - they really are exceptional hunting dogs.  We would be happy to provide a reference to anyone.  I have been checking your website frequently and I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the new litter."

"You do a wonderful job with your breeding and I can't say enough good things about these dogs."

"Good luck with the new pups!"

"I am way more than pleased with Penny, she has exceeded all my

expectations!  I certainly don't know what the future will hold, but at this point in her hunting journey she is by far the best springer I've ever owned.  On the domestic front as well she is the best dog I've ever had bar none.  My wife is not a dog lover by any means, but I've heard her bragging to her friends how great a dog Penny is.  She has even admitted that she is considering allowing me to get another pup from one of your future litters! The only complaint

she has left at this point is that Penny sheds her fur in the house."

"I will continue to keep you informed of Penny's progress and
hopefully I will again have the privilege of purchasing another of your pups."

"Just to keep you updated on Briar...  he is doing great. I couldn't imagine life without him right now. Although he is not used for hunting, he does get frequent trips out into the woods on trail rides. He is quite at home in the woods and fields, and enjoys sniffing out game. Even without training, he seems to flush out birds, much to my horse's dismay. The horses are getting used to things flying up right in front of them, which is good, and Briar is truly having fun which is even better."

"He is a wonderful dog, and has truly become a member of our
family.  I can't tell you the number of people who have asked where we got him, as he is so well behaved as well as cute."

"Stephen, Tag is now 8 months old and wow can he move. He works the cover with drive and passion without knowing what he is looking for as he still has not been introduced to either fur or feather. Tag has been given a few feather retrieves sparingly to begin the introduction of game he has also retrieved a rabbit skindummy. He is becoming spot on being stopped by whistle as well
as voice and we have him coming in nicely now every time instead of whenever he thought he should. Thanks for all the time and help as it can be seen both inthe field and at home as he is everyone's new best friend to the point my sister cried when she realized in a few short weeks he will be with Mandi and I at our new house although not far away the thought of him not right there was
upsetting. Stephen I can still recall the time when I thought I had just a real hot headstrong dog when you revealed to me in the most kindest of ways that he was not headstrong but just slightly immature. Hopefully we will be able to go walk a field together shortly. Hope all is well with you and your family."

"Hi Stephen,"

"I wanted to send you some pictures of Easy with his first two grouse on opening day.  He's doing great.  You bred a spectacular dog.  He's got a great nose and handles super well in the field.  He's doing great on retrieves too.  Today one bird limped off and Easy found it about twenty feet from where it fell.  The second bird he dug out from under a log."

"Hi Stephen"

I haven't talked to you in a while. I haven't been on line since xmas.  I thought I would fill you in on Trixie's progress. Her training has gone amazingly smooth.  In October we started taking her to our local hunt club, where she did very well.  In November she got her first experience on wild birds in Kansas.  The hunting was tough this year.  She learned a lot and really started to gain confidence.  My nephew was with and shot Trixie's first wild rooster. We went back there at xmas time.  She really turned on.  I was lucky enough to shoot a fur and feather double over her.  She was steady and made nice retrieves on both the pheasant and the rabbit.  She really is a joy to watch hunt and is great with my other spaniels.  Sorry to here about nip, but its nice to see that you are a responsible breeder.  So how did your hunting season go and how are Sam and Breeze doing?  The picture is of trixie, up front, and the rest of my kids, Claire Speed and Patch.

"Hey there!  Just touching base with you on our dog Jack- he was sired by Sam & the Fiore-Walker's Daisy.  I can't sing his praises enough quite honestly- seriously he's one of the best, smartest & even tempered dogs I've had.  He's very agile, gentle & careful, awesome with the kids & physically he's completely gorgeous, fast & accurate.  Anyway, just dropping you a line to let you know I love him like crazy!"

Stephen:

Well, it looks like Scout has steadied up beautifully!  Of course, I've been laying the foundation since she was eight months old.

Last week I got her stopped (got between her and the bird) on her second planted bobwhite, which bird was killed, and she seems quickly to have put together steady=shot bird, chase=bird flies away.  Tried her a second time on an uphill last week, so I could catch her if she broke, and she was great.

Today, on the flats, she took a couple of steps on her first bird, but I was on the whistle before the flush so her brain circuitry was already coming my way, and I was able to stop her, and kill the bird, which apparently sealed the deal!  Apparently, she put it all together mentally.

Much to my surprise, she was steady as a rock on the next four birds (spaced throughout the day), and even backed off a trapped bird (her last).  I watched that bird leave her open mouth, and she watched it fly away!  We let that one carry just a bit longer than usual, my gunner shot it cleanly, and I kept her hupped a bit longer than usual before sending her, and she was just Aces!

The wheels could come off at any time, of course, but right now, I'm feeling good, ready for a neat Macallan, and will celebrate the day well.

She should be on hens by Easter.

Unless I'm not too far off, she's going to be dangerous come next fall.
She's fast, has oodles of style, excellent nose (finds birds right now) and, what might be her best quality, is a hell of a student! As soon as she knows what you want, she delivers like a champ.  If she's as good as I think she is ...

Lift a glass to Scout tonight! She earned it.

"Just wanted to drop you a quick note about Sophie.  She is 35 pounds now- all lean muscle.  She romps around the yard, is learning to catch a frisbee (I know not the reason you bred her but, hey, what can I say?).  She retrieves tennis balls, chases squirrels, is completely housebroken and is a loving, loyal companion.  If anyone else wants a good family dog, even if they don't hunt, they should definitely get one of your Springers.  I'm going to enter her into agility training in a few months.  She's fast and can jump like crazy."

"Gina and I are planning for our next trip up to get another.  We were hoping for next summer.  If that's too far out for your breeding plans, just let me know what the next few planned breedings are and we'll think about it.  Would like to be first on the list next time and we'll send you a deposit way ahead of time.  We'll be in touch.  Enjoy the photos."

"Hi Stephen.  A little update on how Pepper is doing. Last litter from Sam and Breeze. Sat 10/11/08 was opening day Pheasant youth hunt in Pa. Only ones allowed to shoot were kids with a valid license 12-16 yrs of age.  My oldest son Vinnie and I have been working with Pepper pretty regularly. Since there wasn't a lot of people we took her out on Sat and again on Tuesday. This is by far the most remarkable pup I've owned. She is everything you said and then some. Not only was this 4 month old putting up birds but she actually caught one and pinned it to the ground. She hunts like an older dog.Unfortunately my camera went dead but here are some shots from earlier.  Thank you for your outstanding breeding. She is a real sweetheart with all the family members as well and already knows the property line. Here are some shots of her."

"Sorry its been a while since an update about Rebel.  I must say I couldn't have asked for a better dog for my family and a hunting partner.  We havent been out hunting yet (family and work) but I have been working with him in the brush and he is fearless of anything in the way, even fences, and that's just for a rabbit scented black kong toy. I've had him on a few rabbits as well.  As for the house  part of him he is wonderful, he doesn't live up to the Rebel name at all.  He allows my daughter to do anything and I mean anything to him and he just lays there or just watches her.  I've sent some pictures for you of him.  I also sent a picture of the monster that I shot in Bedford County PA at our cabin this year on the second day of deer season on state game land.  Hope all is well at your end.  Overall I feel you have a very special breed of springers and I get complements from everyone that sees him listen and respond to my commands."

Thanks Again
